With “a voice like a beacon of hope” (Seattle Times), vocalist Jimmie Herrod brings singular power and expressivity to his global career as a singer, songwriter, and entertainer on stage and screen.
Herrod first came to worldwide prominence as a finalist on the NBC nationally broadcast television show, “America’s Got Talent,” earning the rare “Golden Buzzer” recognition from actress Sofia Vergara and returning the following year on the AGT All-Stars series. AGT Judges raved about Jimmie's multi-show arc and show-stopping appearances, with Heidi Klum calling him "a million-dollar act" and Howie Mandel hailing Herrod as "the best male vocalist in the history of AGT."
As a solo artist, Herrod has appeared to critical and audience acclaim with the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts across multiple engagements, and with the symphony orchestras of San Francisco, Houston, St. Louis, Nashville, Bozeman, and Oregon, including as a featured soloist for the globally televised PBS “Joni Mitchell Songbook” concert at The Kennedy Center with the NSO, where he shared the stage with musical luminaries like Renee Fleming, Lalah Hathaway, Raul Midon, and Aoife O’Donovan. His appearance was lauded by Arts Fuse as "a revelation" and "the show's high point."
Traversing many musical styles and genres in many languages, including jazz, pop, R&B, funk, and his own original songs, Herrod has headlined concerts at The McCallum Theatre (Palm Desert, CA), The Luxor Theater (Las Vegas), The Royal Room (Seattle), La Jolla Music Society, and Portland’s Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
Of his May 24, 2024, debut at New York City's TONY Award winning cabaret hotspot, 54 Below, Broadway World raved about Herrod's game-changing talents in a new concert cabaret of Sondheim and Broadway reimagined as richly expressive jazz, titled "Color & Light," writing:
"Color & Light was a stunning debut at 54 Below for this gifted vocalist.
Entering to cheers from fans and friends, Herrod graced the crowd with his glorious vocals in a slow, steady, and stunning jazz-infused rendition of “Beautiful” from Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George... I was impressed by his incredible range and vocal agility... He performed with such ease and grace and communicated so effortlessly with his bandmates. It was a joy to watch!"
Since 2017 he's toured to hundreds of venues across the globe as a featured guest vocalist with world-pop band Pink Martini and appears on several albums and EPs with the band.
With two solo recordings under his belt – his debut “Falling in Love and Learning to Love Myself” and 2022’s “Elated” – and a new full-length album planned for global release in 2025, Herrod’s singular style and unique voice is poised to make an ever-larger impact in the world of music and entertainment.
Recent appearances include a star turn as Angel in the world premiere symphonic version of the musical “Rent” at The Kennedy Center with conductor Steven Reinecke, where his performance was lauded by Maryland Theatre Guide as “ebullient” and by Broadway World as “moving, textured, and sensitive," headlining the inaugural Seaside Jazz & Blues Festival, co-headlining a weekend of concerts with Storm Large and the Oregon Symphony, touring a new project featuring jazz interpretations of French and American art songs with pianist Cedric Hanriot to Paris, Seattle, and Nashville, and critically acclaimed engagements with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra under Enrico Lopez-Yanez and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra under Norman Huynh.
In 2024-25 he launches a major American solo tour with his jazz trio in support of a forthcoming new full-length album, debuts as vocal soloist with top American orchestras, and continues touring as a featured guest vocalist with Pink Martini.
Herrod is an alum of the Cornish College of the Arts and Portland State University.
